Limone di Sorrento

The town of Sorrento is attractively located on a tuff sheer cliff in the southern part of the Gulf of Naples and is surrounded by lush vegetation mainly constisting of citrus fruits and olive trees.

Framed between the Gulf of Naples, the Vesuvius and the Phlegrean Fields, this enchanting town is also well-known for its breathtaking views on the cobalt blue sea and for being the native place of the great poet Torquato Tasso who was born here in 1544.

Sorrento gives also its name to the whole Sorrento Coast, where many charming towns such as Vico Equense, Meta di Sorrento, Massa Lubrense and Castellammare Di Stabia are also located.

Two villages make up Sorrento: Marina Piccola, the comfortable mooring for ferries and hydrofoils and Marina Grande, where most of the seaside resorts are located.

Thanks to its natural and artistic beauties, as well as ancient traditions and delicious gastronomy, Sorrento is one of the most sought after destinations for international guests.

An extremely wide range of hotels surrounded by citrus and olive trees, palms, parks and luxuriant gardens frequently offer direct access to their private beach thus ensuring high quality stays and utmost relaxation.

In addition, Sorrento is not only a place of history, art, tourism and wonderful landscapes: in fact, it is also the "motherland" of the Lemon of Sorrento (IGP, Indicazione Geografica Protetta; i.e. PGI - Protected Geographical Indication).

A very special lemon used in gastronomy and to produce the lemon liqueur, called "Limoncello" which is mostly grown in the towns of Vico Equense, Meta di Sorrento, Piano di Sorrento, Sant’Agnello, Sorrento, Massa Lubrense, and on the island of Capri (including the second town of Anacapri) as well.

Let's meet architect Luigi Vanvitelli in "his" Reggia di Caserta (Royal Palace of Caserta)
Up to October, 31st 2014 is not to be missed the exhibition "Vanvitelli segreto, i suoi pittori da Conca a Giaquinto - la Cathedra Petri" ("secret Vanvitelli, his painters from Conca to Giaquinto - Cathedra Petri") in the historcial apartments of the Royal Palace of Caserta, well-known as Royal Palace of Caserta too.
Among the precious painting works to be admired there is the Portray of Gaspar van Wittel, Luigi Vanvitelli's father.
